Fátima
This is one of the largest centers of pilgrimage in the catholic world it has a Cathedral and a Chapel “Capela das Aparições”. The famous shrine of Fátima attracts thousands of pilgrims every year, especially on the 13th May and 13th October, to commemorate the apearance of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children.

Leiria
In this graceful town is located an admirable royal castle. Other important monuments are: the Cathedral (XVI - XVII centuries, with an archeology museum), the Church “São Pedro” (Romanesque), the Church “Nossa Senhora da Pena” (Gothic) and the Sanctuary “Nossa Senhora da Encarnação” from the XVI Century.

Coimbra
It is one of the oldest university towns in Europe that has maintained its secular academic traditions, where students with their black cloaks sing gentle melodies of “fado”. The University, with its famous tower and a sumptuous baroque library, is located on the city. Besides this, in this área we can find the Old Cathedral (Romanesque) and the “Machado de Castro” Museum , with its cryptoportico of Roman origin. In the old streets, with its walls, arches and medieval stairs , stands the Monastery of Santa Cruz (founded in 1131), the Church of Santiago and the Monastery “Mosteiro de Celas” (eighteenth century). On the other bank of the river Mondego stands the Convent of Santa Clara-a-Nova from the 17th century.
